About the Book

It was really tough for me to decide whether to send a novel or a collection of short stories, I chose the latter. Most of my stories are dark because I lived a life of being the youngest child where I could never do anything right, and everything that I did was wrong. I always pictured myself as being in a dark place all of the time, and I hoped that perhaps then people would leave me alone, but that was not the case.

The tough part for me was to gather stories together for this collection. I wanted to choose stories that I wrote this year; so far the count is over thirty-five, perhaps longer. I decided to call this collection Portals, because it is one of the short stories included in the collection, and that story fits me. Once you read it, then you will understand, I don’t want to tell you anything about it, I suggest that you read it for yourself.

Most of us are scared of the dark, yet what is there is the same thing that was there during the daytime. I am able to write about anything and put you there, as someone told me years ago my writing is very vivid. Perhaps that is why when I am finished writing a short story, novel and poem I am exhausted, I was literally there in that place as I was writing it. There have been many times when I edit a story or novel and I don’t remember writing certain words. A lot of people have said that I am weird, and my ex wife used to ask me where I come up with the stories. All I know is that I like to write stories, and hopefully I can capture your attention and imagination. If while you are reading my stories, you become frightened or scared, then the story worked, and I achieved what I was hoping for.

There’s not much else to say because I don’t want to talk about any of the stories, I don’t want to give away any plots, secrets or endings. I hope you enjoy reading each one, and if you must, read them with the lights on. Don’t say that I did not warn you.
