About the Book

Three rundown cabins in the woods of Michigan’s Bois Blanc Island are the starting point for a journey of discovery for the author in this fanciful first-person account of his meeting with the late John Dillinger and its aftermath.

The cabin site – which serves as a portal at twilight – offers the author a rare chance to meet with someone not only famous, but long since dead, and through him return again to meet with other figures in the netherworld that serves as their home after life.

Chief among them is John Bible, an historical Island figure who farmed his land for more than thirty years after a mysterious past that may have included stints with Eddie Rickenbacker and the Secret Service.

Through Bible, the author learns something of his own past, as well, and is offered a gift of kindness that serves as the story’s emotional center-point.

This is a story of the Island, its people both past and present, John Dillinger, the mists that obscure our own personal history, and reunion.
