About the Book
In the second novel featuring the implacable detective Ki Dicer and her misfit team, execution-style murders sends the detective to the historically black college JAMU, home of the Zebras and her mother's alma mater. The boldness of the murders is the straw that threatens to break the Zebra's back as Dicer must bring in a forensic accounting team to untangle JAMU's fiscal debacle.
When the students stage a protest and the president disappears, the governing board accepts an unprecedented corporate proposal to run the troubled school. Once again Ki Dicer encounters the incomparable Rita "Rex" Xorron who spearheads the JAMU takeover. The appointment of Xorron's significant other as JAMU president and the subsequent shakeup of administrative personnel set the stage for internal and external pressures at the small school.
Dicer is teamed with a detective whose obsession with the Russian mafia leads them down a blind alley. Then a tip sends Dicer back to JAMU where the new president demonstrates she has the mettle to handle the campus' problem, by force if necessary.
As Ki wrestles with the twists and turns of the convoluted case, she must deal with her growing attraction to a young, volleyball playing priestess. Sorting fact from myth, Dicer remains a step behind the mastermind and the women pursuing him as she battle her own incredulity and the police department's indifference.
