On the verge of approaching her thirtieth birthday, Renessa Harrison discovers that she is sick of her job, tired of the fast-paced, stressful life she leads in Denver, and no longer in love with the man she was engaged to marry.  Seeking the peace of solitude, and a way to start over, she moves to the small mountain town of Raven’s Cove.  Vowing to get her priorities in order, and to never fall in love again, unless a family-oriented, home-loving, non-career driven man happens into her life, Renessa settles into her new home and her new job as a waitress at the local bar and café.  Everything is going according to plan—until mountain man Chance Sterling walks into the Painted Lantern.

Like Renessa, Chance is running from his past—a broken marriage and a ruined career.  Raised by a father who believed in solving problems with his fists, Chance strives to be everything his father was not.  Enduring a life of a self-imposed punishment of seclusion, for something he did that Chance feels was wrong, he is a loner and the center of local small-town gossip.  Renessa is drawn to the mysterious giant of a mountain man, and cannot resist attempting to find out more about him.  

When she suffers a minor injury while searching for his cabin, Chance comes to her rescue and inadvertently ends up discovering the bodies of some missing victims of a private plane crash that happened in the area a few months ago.  Renessa and Chance soon find themselves knee-deep in trouble, while trying to solve the mystery of the circumstances surrounding the plane crash.  Their adventure may turn out to be more than they bargained for.  Chance is forced to draw on an inner strength that he’s not so sure he possesses anymore, and Renessa must make choices of her own in standing beside the man she has grown to love.  In the calm after the storm, what will their future hold?  Can two lost souls find healing and happiness after going through a series of NIGHT GAMES?

About the Author

Brenda Mott grew up loving horses and books. She wrote stories as a child, and her sixth grade teacher made copies of them and put them in the school library. As an adult, Brenda first began to write professionally when she sold an article to Horse & Rider magazine. She continued writing articles for a number of years, before focusing on writing romance. She now writes contemporary romance novels--most often featuring cowboys--as well as romantic suspense. A former barrel racer, Brenda lives in a small mountain town in Colorado with her own cowboy hero—her husband, David. Her son, Chance, is an accomplished BMX biker, and her daughter, Loretta, shares Brenda’s love of books and horses, and is a published poet. They own a menagerie of pets. Brenda is currently at work on her next novel.
