About the Book

Manco Capa, the Sapa Inca, representative of the Sun God, and leader of the descendents of the once proud Inca, now one of the poorest peoples on Earth, makes a last ditch effort to save his starved-to-death country by selling it to the highest bidder—EnviroTox, a multinational waste disposal corporation that profits from mankind’s self-inflicted disasters, and in much need of a landfill far away from watchful environmentalists.

With the help of investigative journalist Rachel Madrill and an alcohol-soaked development expert, Capa skillfully uses the windfall to provide schools, clinics and food for his people until international rivalry and greed sabotage his efforts and the safety of the entire planet

The 21st century is two worlds, the industrialized high technology world where fortunes are made on the Internet, and the impoverished world where one in six are starving.  Troubling to all were the Nineties, the hottest decade in a thousand years and a prelude to the calamities of Global Warming caused by the industrial gases of the wealthy West: widespread flooding from melting icecaps; mass starvation from drought and crop failures; and a dangerous divide between the indifferent rich and nuclear weapon-capable poor countries who seek revenge.

Cold Peace is an adventure on four continents, a haunting mystery, a compelling account of how after the Cold War was won the greatest struggle of humanity remained—to feed, clothe, shelter and provide dignity for all people, and a love story that bridges two cultures.
