About the Book
‘Juvenile Delinquency ’, was a sinister term uttered in hushed tones and evoked deep uneasy fears among adults. A childhood fantasy of running away from home was an unworkable theory the few reckless minded dared attempt. On such a small island, all if any effective hiding places were at a premium. No surprise that the whereabouts of a runaway became common knowledge immediately because the news spread like wildfire. The runaway’s return home was usually a traumatic affair bearing no resemblance to the tale of the Prodigal son. In fact the reaction was quite the opposite. The return home was a rather indecorous and painful one.
