About the Book

Drugs and a charred body are found in the hulk of a torched car. An autopsy confirms it as homicide, and Aspen homicide Detective `Spinner´ Krespinak suspects connections to local drug traffic. Christy, a roommate of Spinner´s girlfriend, is killed in a triple shooting at an all-night party. Spinner´s high school friend, olympic hopeful Hans `Ski´ Janoski is implicated, and Spinner questions him. Days later, Ski is found savagely mutilated in a double murder, and Spinner hauls in one local pimp tied to Ski and Christy. The pimp is killed in a shoot-out setup while in police custody, an uneasy city councilman attempts to roadblock the investigation, convincing Spinner he has a snitch inside the department. When Spinner´s partner breaks a leg skiing, Spinner asks Craige Ingramme, a visiting ex-SEALmate PI from South Carolina, for help. The two turn up the pressure on what appears to be an expanding drug cartel. Both Spinner and Craige soon realize drugs are a smoke screen for something bigger.

When Spinner vanishes during a search of a suspect´s home, Craige races against time before Spinner becomes one more body on a growing list, anyone a likely victim, plus a catch-22 no one sees coming.
