About the Book
Welcome to West Berlin offers an insider’s view of the mid-1950s spy activities that besieged that devastated city. The novel traces the lives of people caught on both sides of the ideological divide, revealing in the process the absurd game of intelligence-gathering played by the opposing Cold War nations. Not the customary spy story, the plot twists and turns through sixteen days of escalating adventure and intrigue, love and lust. Peopled with a grab-bag of amateurs and misfits, champions and martyrs, this work explores the consequences of amoral decisions that exploit the human condition and both make and destroy lives.
