Historical events were researched, some were told to the author by either family or friends. This story, of one woman who commands the destiny of others with a lie, shows the terrible and sad consequences of bigotry and ignorance. The lie that tears lovers apart...the hopes and dreams and hidden memories, all revealed in the journals kept by a young immigrant girl in that brings them back together again in redemption and forgiveness.
About the Author
Pat Carpenter-Wood was born and raised in Chicago’s Back of the Yards district. She now lives in Tucson, Arizona. She is a member of the Society of Southwestern Authors. This is her third e-published book. Her first, ‘Tata’s Tree’, is a non-fiction story of life in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. Her second book, ‘The Mask of Love’, is a fictional story of a verbally and emotionally abusive marriage.
