About the Book

An American couple, Dave and Ellen Masters, takes up temporary residence in Europe due to the husband's ill health. They find a utopian lifestyle along Spain's Costa Rosa, with the only concern being the cost of their newly-acquired lifestyle. To solve this dilemma, the husband answers an ad seeking an English-speaking real estate sales person. Matters become complicated because Dave lacks a work permit, thereby violating Spanish law and opening himself up to blackmail by his newly-acquired employer, the thoroughly disreputable, Pepe Cordova. Eventually, Dave becomes involved in fraudulent real estate transactions, including a hotel that serves as a way station for women from Eastern Europe seeking high-paid employment around the Mediterranean and Middle East. In reality, the hotel is simply part of an elaborate white slave racket. Once the wife, Ellen, realizes what her husband has become involved with, she initiates the process of extricating Dave from the quagmire engulfing him. The effort, however, is not without its dangers, and much has to be sacrificed before Dave realizes that honor is more important than a gorgeous villa with a view of the Mediterranean Sea.

About the Author

The author is a civil engineer who has spent many years involved with major highway and transportation projects throughout the world. These travels have led to a life exposed to a variety of fascinating cultures and unusual personal experiences. Places encountered became the vivid settings for a series of novels in which fictitious characters find themselves caught in odd situations and unforeseen adventures, some enlightening, others horribly traumatic and tragic. The author has now retired to the Seattle area where writing has become his full-time occupation.
