About the Book

The life of a factory worker takes a dramatic turn after a mysterious stain of blood appears next to his bed. A bartender comes to the terrifying conclusion that being born doesn’t necessarily mean being alive. A corporate executive is forced to an ugly encounter with the reality he had been avoiding all his life. A young boy is a silent witness to the decadence and solitude of his mother. Two inmates escape prison but can’t find their freedom. The characters in these stories may never meet. Yet, they all share a soul wounded by loneliness. And a fine thread of hope that keeps their dignity alive. Praise for Still Life With Fish and other stories: “ …a highly recommended anthology of stories by Laurence Klinger that toy with the boundaries of reality with chilling and transcendental effects… Still Life With Fish And Other Stories pushes literary boundaries to give the reader new and unusual ways of looking at this old world and we struggling creatures who populate it.” - Midwest Book Review
