About the Book
Dreamworlds is the story of the conflict, arising from their irreconcilably different views of life, between an unhappily married pair. Sophie Jacoby tries to escape from the sterile reality in which she feels she lives by engaging in a series of love affairs and by fleeing abroad, while Edward Jacoby tries to realize his dreams of wealth and to achieve some understanding of himself by an exaggerated embrace of his business and by an equally exaggerated immersion in his past. The business intrigues and failures and the unsatisfactory love affairs that lead to sorrow and disaster for the Jacobys take place in the worlds of American business and university life and in Spain.
