About the Book
My grandfather and namesake was freed from slavery in Georgia as a young man. He married, acquired his own farm and taught his children how to sustain both their bodies and souls. Thanks to my mother (a teacher) and my father (a preacher) I lived a childhood rich in the black culture of the segregated South. It fueled my ambition to overcome the challenges of building an education career before and during the civil rights era. If you enjoy American history and the African-American experience, you’ll find Hank of the Hoods – A Butterfly Life to be an interesting perspective of a rewarding life.
