About the Book

This book is made up of small pieces of my life. As a whole it portrays a picture of many of the colors and aspects of my life and the drama and hardships I have experienced up to this point. It is a collection of my thoughts, my feelings, and my deepest emotions. It could be considered a diary of sorts. The book contains mostly poetry, as well as a few short stories and a couple random thoughts. Most of the pieces I have written are, to some extent, about me and some of my closest friends and family. They relate in some way to us, our experiences, fears, dreams and relationships. I write about true to life situations and issues that affect many teenagers today. There is a world of things out there that teenagers encounter and decisions they are forced to make, many of which parents cannot prepare their children for. As hard as they try, nothing can totally prepare a child for drugs, sex, depression, death, love, temptation or the consequences involved with each. This book is kind of a heads up on some the situations I never expected to face. A little insight on the difficulties of being a sixteen year old girl, the difficulties of high school, the difficulties of life as a whole. This is not meant to be some self- help guide to young girls nor is it a warning of the dangerous situations possible, it is simply a collection of my memories and thoughts that I wrote to help me through the hard times. I hope you enjoy my work.

About the Author

My name is Jennifer Licata. I was born on January 6, 1989 in Port Jefferson, New York. I have always loved to write. Usually I don’t like to show anybody the poems I write, however, when this opportunity came along, it was too good to pass up. Being a published author has always been one of my dreams and now I’ve accomplished it. A lot of my inspiration has come from my brother, Bobby, who is one of my closest friends. The biggest influence on my life has been my grandmother, who practically raised me when I was younger. I spend a lot of my spare time with my best friends Shannon and Deena. They constantly help me through the hassles of being a teenager. In addition to Bobby, I also have another brother as well as three sisters. Within the next nine months I will be an aunt, thanks to my brother. In the future I plan to graduate college and have a large family. Most likely I will continue to live on Long Island because I love New York and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
