About the Book

This book is a melting pot of many different things. It includes poetry, short stories, and modern poetry. Since the author wished for a chance for others to publish their work also, she included some of her friends’ work. This book has poetry that will make you cry, make you happy and most importantly they will make you think. It has many inspirations incorporated into it. Most of Maye Khamis’ work was based on her life. She altered some of it but they were inspired by the past events she had experienced. The work from Kevin Pabon, Marybeth Vallejo, Theresa Springman, and her cousin Kareem were pieces that Maye connected to when she read them.

About the Author

Maye Khamis, at 17 years old, has a many unique stories to tell. Growing up in Queens, New York she learned the meaning of little things and how to appreciate them. She was born in Egypt but she has family almost anywhere. Ever since she was little she would learn something new about her culture after going to her weekly family gatherings. She has been inspired by many people for her writing, singing, and simply her lifestyle. Maye is mature for her age and that shows through her work.
