Wishful Thinking
Dear Diary,
I wish I could write to a famous person, and tell them something about one of my haven projects. I would tell them about my Rainbow Summer Haven Project ‘Grandmama’s House’. You know what, I’m going to write anyway, I don’t know if I’m going to send it. (I just don’t want to intrude on their privacy.) Here Goes!
**************************************************
Dear God’s Helper,
I was one of those children right out of the movie ‘There Are No Children Here’. Only the television version was much kinder, more richer in spirit, hunger and compassion.
As I grew older I realized that I was still alive, and that maybe I had the time to learn how to help those still living in a poverty stricken environment and mind.
I obtained a GED!
(I was a teen preyed on by the neighborhood hunk and I became a teenage mom and thus did not finish high school.)
I obtained an Associates Degree
(I Leaned toward Psychology, Sociology & History)
I then obtained a Bachelors Degree in Written Communications (Imaginative Writing).
And then I was ready.
I begin to write ‘Back Again’ (Tales of Unfinished Business), and then I wrote ‘Dreamers Dreaming’ (Poetry, Essays, Short Stories and Stuff). Now I’ve completed the circle of books that I needed in order to help. With my latest books complete I am ready.
‘Vampire Tales: Ashes to Ashes’ and of course the bad girl in me had to write ‘Dear Diary’. We all have our bad girl or bad boy moments where we just want to shock someone, well not just someone, but the one that is reading our Diary.
And now that I’m finished with my books, I am closer to my goal. And that is a ‘Haven’. A naturalistic Haven for the entire summer for every child that I can, as many as I can. They would want for nothing. And I would send them back home with enough supplies and clothing for the school year.
A naturalistic log cabin Haven/Academy/Camp/Resort means escape from a concrete world, poverty and the dangerous inner city environment for the entire summer. (I hardly saw any grass or greenery as a child and escape was not a possibility. My only thoughts were of jail or death. Everything in between was ‘Just Life’.)
Of course, I’ve written these four books on behalf of my dream to help inner city children, however MY BOOKS ARE FOR ADULTS. (The simple ness, the complexity and the weaving in and out of fiction, nonfiction and creative nonfiction (I just believe) are meant for the older mind. And of course there are things, you just should not allow children to read.)
PANDORA
Thank You for helping me to dream of building this Haven ‘Grandmamas House’!
My Rainbow Safe Summer Haven Project ‘Grandmama’s House’ will be a place where children will open the box within themselves. They will create and write their own stories, while they are Youthful!
One day, with the help of you, the world and wishful thinking, I will have a ‘Grandmama’s House’ in every state—now that’s a miracle.
Right now I will settle for just a blessing!
Again many thanks for your time,
P. Dotson-Randle
