About the Book
It is unfortunate that most of us are zooming down the interstates without even noticing the beautiful sunsets behind us. Since our country has become so mobile, over the past few decades, most families are living in different states. Donna encourages all Christians to use this time in their cars to break with the familiar and venture into the unknown by exploring the content of their faith.
As Christians, it becomes refreshing to ponder scriptures and quietly think about the words of church hymns as we pray in our cars. As we are weaving in and out of the tapestry of our lives, we should be whispering prayers and experiencing God’s eternal moments in our lives. Taking time in our cars to become inspired gives our lives focus as we learn how He wants to use us today and tomorrow in accomplishing His Will.
Donna thinks it is awesome how God created our brains in a very fashionable way so that we can think about the past, present, and future all at one time. Donna records her thoughts as she weaves in and out on highway 84. Written primarily in honor of her father and for her future grandchildren, Donna encourages her readers to also record their contemplations within the creativity of their minds. Life is a journey in which those whom God places us with are our journey mates. Donna weaves her personal story with geography and history as she travels home on highway 84. No matter what our past, God wants to speak today. Through prayer the Holy Spirit becomes the very Presence of God within us so that we can appropriate the Spirit’s power each and every day of our lives
Each chapter in this book begins with the letter "F." There is much to reflect about as we stay focused on these seven, perfect words. Staying focused on these seven gifts from God allows your true nature of happiness to shine. Gratitude will change your life. This attitude will provide more energy, optimistism and resiliency in the face of stress. Slowing down, looking at beauty, and thinking about God‘s Word becomes inspirational. In contrast, if you do not practice these habits of discipline, you may end up on the side of the fast-lane interstate wondering what happened.
Donna predicts that by the time her grandchildren read this book that the world will have totally changed. Hopefully, they will use this book to fill up the space of time between grandparents, since the same truths will need to be re-learned with each new generation. Donna’s prayer for her grandchildren is that they will not be captivated by culture, discouraged by critics, manipulated by manipulators, anxious about problems, or debilitated by temptations. It is also her prayer that they will keep running the race with their eyes on The Goal. When times get tough, she prays that they won’t back up, but keep moving forward by God’s grace. She prays that they will live a Spirit-led life until they have finished the race.
