About the Author

A native of Tunisia, Dr. Amor Cherni teaches philosophy at Blaise Pascal University in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He holds a concurrent professorship at the University of Tunis, Tunisia. His other publications in French include Diderot, l’ordre et le devenir [Diderot, Order and Change], Buffon, la nature et son histoire [Buffon, Nature and Its History] and Penser le vivant, le role du sensible [Thought on Living Organisms: The Role of the Sensory] (forthcoming). He has also published several works in Arabic, including a critical translation of Descartes’ Discourse on Method. He lives near Paris with his two daughters.
