About the Author

Betty Mathews was born in 1937 in a small farming community in Longmont, Colorado. Her father was a hard working farmhand while her mother was a nurse at the local hospital. During her formative years, betty lived with her three sisters and two brothers in a small four room house in the country. After high school, the family relocated to Southern California where she met and married Don Fessett. They had five children and ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. After a career as a mother and in the jewelry business, she retired to a small town in Central California where she enjoys the good life. One day she inquired about the absence of a columnist in a local newspaper. This resulted in a new career as a writer for the newspaper about her life experiences. Betty decided to publish a book of these articles for others to enjoy and pass down her legacy to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
