About the Book
This is the story of a young man growing up in Oklahoma under the loving guidance of his mama. It begins with his earliest memory when he was ill with diphtheria; childhood experiences; the death of his father; first jobs; teen age struggles; life after graduation in Washington D.C. and his return home to enlist in the U. S. Army Air Corps at the outbreak of WW II. It is personal life history revealing humor, sorrow, character, and charm. One reviewer wrote: “It was like looking over the author’s shoulder and watching him grow up.”
About the Author
Warren Jean Papin was born in 1923, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the eighth child of Sarah and Claud Papin. He has had a lifelong interest in writing which has varied from news paper reporting, short stories, magazine articles, speeches for government officials and his personal life history. His military life, which began in May, 1942 with the Army Air Corps in WWII, continued with the U. S. Air Force through Korea and Vietnam. After he retired from active duty, he continued government service with the U. S. Navy, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and completed over 45 years of government service in 1990. Since then he, and his wife of 60 years, June, have lived in St. Petersburg, Fl., and Cambridge, MD. They currently reside at Londonderry Retirement Community located in Easton, MD. He is still active in the community and writing for local publications.
