I screamed until my throat hurt. “You tried to kill my daughter! How did you get the knife?”

“Jackson got it for me. He called it, and it came to him,” Brian whined. “Jackson told it to come to him.”

“Tell Jackson to get in here!” I shrieked at him.

“Mom? What’s going on?” Veronica hobbled in. “What did Brian say?“

“Trust me, you don’t want to know,” I told her.

“Yes, Mom. I do want to know. Especially if he got the knife like he always does,” she replied, “You know... it just floats in the air.”
