About the Book

About the Author

As a creative person I’ve always found it best to let it come naturally. The odd side to this equation is that on one side I give it free reign in its own time, the other side reflects a penchant for formal influence in both areas(with pen or brush). Just as there is freedom within self-discipline there can be rules within artistic freedom. My poetry and writing in general with English literature being a factor – as well as my art had their seed planted in high school-if it wasn’t there already. However, it did not get full spotlight until recent years when the need for financial responsibility wasn’t as strong. Most of that period of time was spent in the service industry as cook/chef which allowed creativity. Otherwise, when it comes to creativity I am, as DaVinci put it “ouma sensa lettere” or without formal training aside from exposure to the field. Right now that includes volunteering at a public art gallery – for ten years so far. As for the Haiku presented here, how does someone with a Scandinavian past get to be one with oriental art forms. I’m not sure but it does happen especially when one puts aside one’s own culture enough to understand others , to get a universal feeling existing. To me the orient has appeal in more ways than with creativity. Doug Pedersen
