About the Book
Here it is, my 2nd book, Walking on Water. Making things possible in this book I included some hand drawn artwork by me and my daughter, Ashlee, and an artist who does my book covers Mario Figueroa. Some drawings are inspired by my friends at work or just what I see or in everyday thoughts within myself. That is also where my poetry comes from, for instance, we see a man sitting on a bench with his wife. I can see a story so I turn it into a poem. I put feeling into it and flavor to create a beginning and an end. I widen my horizon not only about love, but about different topics so you cam have a different feel for every page you read. That is where I start the stories. There is a special story about my niece, who fought leukemia. Happy to say she survived. That’s just one of my many stories that I am sure you will enjoy. One is about a man, Mr. Bushwar, who was sitting in my bus, with his permission I wrote his story. It was one of the funniest one I heard and I am sure you will like it too. Now for the tributes, I call it, the spice within the spices. A point of view from different poets and different ages, starting with my goddaughter, Ysinjea, who is 9 years old. Some from a friend of a friend, and some from relatives, and some that were translated from Spanish language that my mother wrote. So here it is, my cup of soup, found in words and pages for you to enjoy.
About the Author
As by now, you have seen my name, Javier Arreola, born in McAllen, TX. I am one of seven siblings, counting my much loved step-sisters. I was raised in a little town in Dinuba, CA. I was raised around gangs and drugs and I learned to overcome all. My strive to become somebody is a never ending story. Only one way to go up and family is what keeps it together. Working hard for them and loving them through good and bad times. Just like my mother and step-father did for me, I love them til the day I die.
