About the Book

The intrepid Charles of Where the Wind Blows returns, but now he’s finally found a home: Austin, Texas. Just a few years before, he didn’t even know what a Longhorn was; now he’s in love with the University of Texas, with all it has to offer, and especially with one beautiful Longhorn in particular. Little did Charles know, the journey from Ghana was the easy part. And even the challenge of graduate school doesn’t compare with what he soon has to face: bigotry, violence, and ultimately a threat to all that he holds dear. But how much can one student do to protect his beloved and to win the right to marry her?

About the Author

Author’s Profile Author James Wellington is an immigrant from Ghana who proudly calls Rowlett, Texas, home. Although his first book, Where the Wind Blows, published in 2005, was set outside the United States, Wellington is no stranger to the University of Texas campus that is so integral to Longhorns, Love, & Luck. Still, writing from a truly Texan perspective was a new challenge, so Wellington turned to his two American-born kids. The nine-year-old James Wellington IV and his little brother, Noble, both super students, helped Dad write a book that stays true to both Wellington heritages. The trio had a blast writing the book in a house whose academic ambience was made possible by the author’s wife, Daphine.
