About the Book
The New American Poet is a collection of the many poems that capture the real emotional pain of incarceration. These poems express human emotion and trials that are encountered while “doing time”—relationships, friends, loneliness, fear, pain, love, fatherhood, spirituality, jealousy, and betrayal. American Poet speaks from the universe of free verse. They simply speak to your mind, your heart, and your pain.
About the Author
Bruce Hansley was born in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Paul Robeson High School, only to drop out by the tenth grade due to a fascination with the street life. Like most Brooklyn kids, the streets became his school, his father, and his friend. His mother always warned him, “You’ll either get killed or locked up.” The latter befell him, but while in prison, his life would change, and he would obtain his formal education. He would start his journey of self-study, self-improvement, and creative writing. He has studied sign language, Braille, and Spanish. He plays the keyboard, writes music, and is the next uber producer.
