About the Book

Aramaic: The Language of Jesus of Nazareth is a brief introduction to the Aramaic language. Bible scholars have determined that Aramaic was the language spoken by Jesus Christ. This book lists the evidence from the Bible, archeology and other ancient records that have led them to this conclusion. Examining the words of Jesus in his native language gives us a deeper understanding of the Messiah and his message. Aramaic: The Language of Jesus of Nazareth serves an important introduction to Aramaic biblical studies and to the last surviving native speakers of the Aramaic language, the Assyrian Christians of Mesopotamia.

About the Author

Stephen Andrew Missick is the author of The Words of Jesus in the Original Aramaic, Mary of Magdala and Treasures of the Language of Jesus. Reverend Missick graduated from Sam Houston State University. He attended seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has traveled widely throughout the Middle East visiting the Aramaic speaking Christians of Syria and Iraq. He has written articles on the history of the Assyrian Church for the Journal of Assyrian Academic Studies. He served with the United States Army in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is the author and illustrator of The Hammer of God comic book.
