About the Book
Sky is a teenage boy who lives in a single parent house hold with his dearly loved mother. He befriends some new comers who bring some strange religious customs to the village of Matelot. The Ramsey’s are a Hindu family who embrace Sky as a member of their own family unit. Sky soon learns about the customs and tradition of the Hindu festivals when he finds himself growing close to Ravi Ramsey. Together the boys go through adolescents and adventure. A tragedy nearly destroys their close friendship as they both fall in love with the same girl. Sky struggles to find himself amidst a world of confusion while living in the Village by the sea.
About the Author
Trinidad born Arlene D Peterson was raised in Arima, but spent her teenage years in Sangre Grande. Arlene attended Eldorado Junior Secondary where she developed her love of the arts. She experimented in painting, plaster paris and clay. This was only a stepping stone for she fell in love with literature. The world of literature intrigued her and she created stories for her family and friends. One day Arlene was brought to tears when she heard of the senseless murder of an Ocelot in the mangrove. She was so moved that she decided to write about the endangered animal. Danny and the quest for the Ocelot’s nose takes you on a journey to discover why we should protect our endangered animals.
