God Talk and Other Incoherent Religious Delusions

About the Book

Since we, as human beings, are a part of the natural biota of the earth, and the earth is a part of the natural universe, the only thing we can really know about is the natural universe. Therefore Nature is the only thing we can think or talk about. To think or talk about things that are not about Nature is to think or talk about things about which we know nothing. Extra natural (or as some would say, supernatural) things are things about which we know nothing. Therefore, we cannot escape the conclusion that those theologians, priests, pastors, and ministers who speak of extra natural (supernatural) things do not know what they are talking about. If we pay any attention at all to people who don’t know what they are talking about, what does that say about us?

About the Author

The author received his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire in 1956, his M.S. from the University of Utah in 1962, with further work from the Universities of Minnesota, Oregon, Montana and Virginia. He received the standard Christian indoctrination as a child and was a default Christian until early in his undergraduate years when he became totally apostate. Two science majors and enhanced critical thinking skills hastened the process. A thirty-five-year career teaching Biology, A.P. Biology, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Physiology, and Chemistry ended when he retired in 1991. He has spent his retirement gardening, fishing, bird watching, traveling with his wife, writing, and watching his grandchildren grow.
