About the Book
We live in a time when hope, and joy seem to be in short supply. This story
helps to fill that void. Children are universally living in constant change but
especially in our country. Sometimes simple gifts are one of the few constants in
their lives and are treasured for years. These can be a book, a teddy bear or simply
a yo-yo.
In this gentle story, Sara receives a simple gift that evolves into a deep
friendship with a girl of a totally different culture and race. We come to
realize that it is not the gift that is important, but what it represents in this timeless
journey of self-discovery we call childhood. In the end humanity
is the constant that triumphs because Wu-Ling shares Sara’s love for the
same simple Hope.

About the Author
Born in Brooklyn, February 25, 1947 Rose Michelle Boccasino is a native New Yorker. She taught English in the NYC Public Schools for 16 years before becoming an administrator and supervisor for 18 more years. She has always been a writer, dramatist and poet.” As long as I can remember writing gave me solace and an escape from the daily must-dos.” Now retired from her full time profession, she is able to draw from her many years of experience with young children, parents, and teachers and pursue her desire to write children’s books. This publication represents her initial attempt to show how a simple story can capture a child’s imagination and transform a life.
