About the Book

“On the way to Granny’s home” is a story of love from the perspective of a ten year old child. This is a heartwarming story to share with a child, parents and grandparents. Christina captures the moment her mother is feeling exhausted with her household chores and responsibilities. A visit to her grandparents provides the outlet to give her mother time and space to catch up on her chores and an opportunity to interact with her grandparents. The story describes the loving relationship between grandchildren and grandparents. The story telling by her grandparents provided a connection to the past and a time to build memories. Is this nurturing environment she sees love as the bright star when looking at the sky. “It was very dark and there was only one bright white star up there.” Christina’s love for her mother is reflected when she writes: “The doorbell rang. ‘Mother is here’ I shouted aloud. I saw her, calm and in a good mood. I loved to see her happy and cheerful. At that moment, I wished to see her always in that mood.”

About the Author

Christina Puentes is a sixth grader at Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas. Christina has been writing children stories and poems since she began to write. She has written over 150 stories and poems. Some of her poems have been published. “On the way to Granny’s home” is her first story to be published. Jairo A. Puentes is Christina’s grandfather. He made most of the illustrations for this book.
