About the Book

Hub Kemp leaves home. He’s a boy with intelligence and athletic ability. He plays football for Vanderbilt until he’s expelled. Valentina mends his spirit. She gets him a job in Chicago. Sent to California, Hub suffers an auto accident and becomes a flyer. Opal loves Hub. He meets a movie pilot who hires him. Opal rejects Hub when she learns a movie star seduced him... Hub flies to Alaska on a mercy mission. Golden State Studios fire him. Hub goes home when his mother dies. Hub and his brother explore an old mine and find a stack of gold. Hub returns to California to marry Opal.

About the Author

Except for three and a half years in the U.S. Navy I have lived most of my life in California. Born in Vallejo, my elementary years were spent in Long Beach, Garden Grove, Los Angeles and Banning. I graduated from the University of Southern California and from Los Angeles High School. I worked a number of years as a teacher and administrator in the public school systems of California. I am married to Sara and I have two grown children, Deldee and Greg. I now live in Palm Springs but have also lived in Orange County and the Sierra Foothills.
