About the Author
Nancy Bengis Friedman started writing at the age of six and has not stopped, despite the onset of multiple sclerosis over the past two decades. Nancy was a summa cum laude graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She received a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in New York and proceeded to teach English and Creative Writing for various institutions, including Woodmere Academy and Wagner College. At Touro College, she has enjoyed working with an immigrant population. Nancy has been Director of the 551 Writer’s Salon, a gathering place for budding writer’s and poets who want to share their work. As a certified poetry therapist, Nancy believes that writing releases hidden dreams, and that the creative process is a liberating and empowering force. Nancy has lived in Brooklyn for over twenty years with her husband Bob, and two sons-Jed and Seth, and a cat named Sam.
