About the Author

Born on March 25, 1920 in the City of Manaus, State of the Amazon, Brazil. The tenth and last child of Camillo and Maria Balbi. At the age of 8 years old, he attended the Silesian school and from there at the age of 12, he entered into the seminary joining the congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco, and was ordained priest on December 8, 1947. Father Mario has traveled the world as a teacher. The past 30 years have been dedicated to seafarers of the world as a Port Chaplain; first in the Port of Savannah Georgia and now in the Port Newark, NJ. Don Bosco has been his inspiration and teacher. Father Mario has always been fascinated by his works and dreams that younger generations continue Don Bosco’s legacy.
