About the Book
The book chronicles my life from a very comfortable childhood through a rather tedious formal education, with only one thought in my mind. I had to fly aeroplanes. My father was a pilot, and that was my inspiration. The reader is taken on a journey from England to the stagnant world of an aircraft maintenance hangar in Australia. When released from bondage to become a flight engineer with an airline in Hong Kong, I am torn between my family, the fruits of life in Asia and an accident as a child, that left me with marginal eyesignt.
About the Author
As a young boy I was in awe of my father, a senior officer and pilot in the British Royal Air Force. I imagined the excitement and freedom that came with being a pilot, and longed to fly myself one day. When my father arranged a flight in a jet trainer for me, I knew my fate was sealed. An unfortunate accident damaged my eyesight, but I refused to let anyone keep me from my dream. I bounced around as a maintenance engineer until being offered a position as a flight engineer with an airline in Hong Kong. This was the start of my journey.
