About the Book

Alexandria’s boyfriend goes to bed with her best friend because she refuses to give up her virginity to him. Alexandria’s boss threatens to keep her from a much-needed promotion if she doesn’t sleep with him. This sexual harassment lands Alexandria in the hospital within minutes of losing her life. Alexandria struggles with forgiveness, her values, and dating again. A short Underground Railroad saga is woven throughout the contemporary story, which brings all characters together by ancestry by the end of the book.

About the Author

Throughout Anita’s tenure as an economist, college instructor and college administrator, she has written many professional papers. Two are published in the Journal of Research in Pharmaceutical Economics (‘93). Her essay Still Thankful for Good Ol’ Mom and Dad, Small Town Life magazine (12/02) earned an Honorable Mention. Memories of You is in the anthology Learning to Fly (5/03). Leave My Ebony Tree Be earned third place in an Oneswan Productions contest (‘03). She won first place in a BET Books/Arabesque contest in ‘04. In the new Chicken Soup for the African American Soul, Anita is acknowledged on p. xiii.
