About the Book

Wonderful Words is a simple celebration of words – words about you and me, words about family and friends, words about events and experiences, and words that explain elements of language and how we communicate with one another. Words can make us laugh and cry and can make us think. They can also inspire and teach us. The poems and rhymes in this book are designed to help children – and all those of us who are kids at heart – celebrate, remember, anticipate, think, reach out, and learn. I hope they do just that for you.

About the Author

Mary E. Kendig has been a writer and an editor for more than 25 years, working primarily in the book and magazine publishing fields. She began as a publications editor in New York, editing trade reference books. Throughout her career, she has been a manager, editor, and writer for various publishing companies, including Harcourt Brace, Inc., in which capacity she edited numerous elementary- and middle-school textbooks. She also spent several years as a Managing Editor with Wilson Learning Corporation, helping to create and deliver instructional materials in all aspects of the human resources field, including assessment, selection, development, and training programs. For four years, Mary also wrote a monthly "Eye on Language" column for the local chapter of an international technical communications organization and served on their Newsletter Advisory Committee. An accomplished writer and editor and a published poet and lyricist, Mary is currently at work on a book of sentiments and anecdotes about family life. She currently resides in Mount Dora, Florida, with her two favorite characters: her husband and her mom.
