About the Book
“Bits of Wisdom for Christian Living: A Tribute to Miss Lizzie,” by Mary E. Taylor, honors the author’s mother as a respectable Christian woman who taught her the importance of morality and living a Christian lifestyle. The author first provides an extensive background on Lizzie’s life, from her childhood, through the years as a mother. As a young girl, Lizzie begins to go to church and finds it very rewarding. Throughout her life, she always attends church. Her husband, Richard, does not like her going and even threatens to lock her out one night if she attends the revival services. When she goes anyway, he decides to go to the church to see why she loves it so much and is saved that night. The author then recollects the last days of her mother’s life. In the mid 1 970s, she steps on a nail and does not seek any medical attention. After that, she is sent to the hospital for a total of twelve weeks. Later, in 1975, she dies at the age of seventy-nine. The remainder of this work is devoted to inspirational works of poetry combined with appropriate quotations from the Bible and other sources. “Bits of Wisdom for Christian Living: A Tribute to Miss Lizzie,” is offered as a loving memorial to an upstanding woman willing to do anything and everything she could for the love of God.
