About the Book

Midnight Deception centers on the lives of two identical twins who are separated at birth. One, Rafe, is raised by his loving parents to become a simple horse trainer on a small ranch. The other, Cord, is raised by an abusive stepfather and becomes a selfish, high-living country music star. When Cord mysteriously disappears, his agent persuades Rafe to take the singer’s place on a world tour. Rafe knows he must – to avenge the murder of this brother he never knew; but also to atone for the behavior of this man, who had been so cruel, particularly to his ex-wife, Mauri. This intriguing tale crosses oceans, continents, and generations; beginning with the twins’ parents as young lovers fleeing a luxurious hacienda in Mexico to a small ranch in Texas. It continues through Rafe’s impersonation of Cord on his tour through lush and scenic Hawaii, the wild and dry Australian outback, and the beautiful Italian villas of Florence. Rafe’s adventures as Cord’s imposter acquaint him not only with these new vistas, but with the women Cord had romanced in all corners of the world. While not immune to these intrigues, Rafe yearns for his simple ranch life, and to find Mauri, whom Rafe loved from their first meeting. But can he successfully impersonate this brother, so different from him in nature? Can he bring Cord’s murderer to justice and the memory of his lost brother to peace? And how can he explain that he is a very different man, a good man, to Mauri?

About the Author

At a young 85 years, Cecelia Latorella has lived, traveled, and loved very well, and read very much. Her first love is her family, but her love of books has been life-long, and intense. An avid aficionada of romances, she has read or, since losing her vision, listened to well over a thousand books in her lifetime. Books always a comfort, it was not surprising that the story of Midnight Deception developed as she found herself awake more at nights. Two years later, she is now developing its sequel, carrying the story forward a generation in Kismet, My Sweet.
