About the Author

The ultimate workaholic, starting as a shy and anxious child, with little self-esteem, who becomes scientist, entomologist, professor and consultant, Dr. Long was honored for “pioneering, developing and practicing the environmentally sound practice of Integrated Pest Management” of sugar cane insects, and was elected to the Louisiana Agricultural Hall of Fame for his “Years of Dedicated Service to the Betterment of Louisiana Agriculture.” Retired since 1999 and with thirteen grandchildren and great grandchildren scattered from Texas through Louisiana to Tennessee, he wrote this book with the hope that some recorded events from his life and possible lessons drawn therefrom might be instructive or entertaining or both.
