About the Book

A 1st lieutenant officer of the USAFFE (United States Arm Forces Of the Far East) 102nd battalion was separated from his wife, Jean, and their six children ages 12 years to six months old, during the invasion of Mindanao, Zamboanga City in 1942. The hardship of a mother when they fled to the mountains during the siege. How the Guerrillas controlled and protected the community in the entire Mindanao rainforest during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines. When an elder brother took the responsibility to help and care for his younger brothers when their mother passed away. The many adventures that culminated from the struggle to find a better living which ended in the States.


About the Author

Bon Puno was born in Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines. He graduated High School at the Ateneo de Zamboanga and FEATI TECH (Far East Aeronautical Institute of Technology) in Manila taking radio operation and electronic servicing. After Migrating to the United States in 1965, he took up American Law at La Salle Ext. University in Chicago Illinois and was awarded a Law Degree in 1972. he never pursue a career in Law while raising his family in San Francisco, California. He worked for Southern Pacific RR and City and County of San Francisco where he retired in June of 2004.
