About the Book

Hupomone is a book of inspirational poetry motivated by my life experiences. It tells of the joys, the heartaches, and lessons I’ve learned. Hupomone means possessing the ability to endure whatever hardships life brings and still being able to trust in God and never lose hope. This book tells of my strengths and my weaknesses, but through it all I still stand. Hupomone has poems for almost every holiday or special occasion in anyone’s life. Every page captures your heart and is easy to understand and learn from. Hupomone was written to inspire change. I hope it brings revelation of God’s presence in our lives, conviction of our wrong-doings, and repentance to change and make Jesus Lord of our life.

About the Author

Pearl Holmes is a native of Port Arthur, TX and a mother of four. She began writing poetry in high school and went on later to write inspirational poetry. Her poetry, she says, will hopefully change or inspire change for a better and easier way of living for her readers and listeners. Pearl is affiliated with a support group called the Winner’s Circle through which she evangelizes to women and men who are incarcerated. She has been involved in this ministry for five years. She is a devoted member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Pearl devotes time to other volunteer efforts including: visiting nursing homes and local junior and senior high schools to share words of wisdom through reading her poetry, as well as local soup kitchens and the Salvation Army. Most of Pearl’s poems are about life lessons she has learned. She has a heart for the needy and the lost and tries to reach them through her poetry. They represent life experiences that many of the people she encounters have or are currently going through. Pearl feels that these personal aspects of her works make them enjoyable and easy to read.
