About the Book

The “Monk Parrots,” also known as “Quaker Parrots,” originate from the elevations of South America. They were released or escaped from captivity from the Hyde Park area of Chicago. They quickly adapted to the varied climate of the Chicago area. Today, the Monk parrots can be found all the way to the Illinois/ Indiana border. They are migrants that have adapted to their new land.
