About the Book
Treasures Of The Knight By Gaylen Greer
Treasures Of The Knight is a fictional mystery thriller about a former Navy SEAL who has retired and is quietly teaching in a college in Connecticut when an old family friend (who just happens to be a Senator) loses his son at the hands of a terrorist assassin and then the Senator’s wife is also kidnapped.
The son, a diver, had discovered something off an old sunken ship that these people desperately wanted. What was it? Where is it now? Just how does a new order of The Knights Templar fit in? Ken Walker intends to find out as he comes out of retirement and risks his life and the woman he loves in a saga that leads him from Turkey, to Canada then to France in a chilling search for these killers.
Here is an excerpt:
Walker proceeded quickly through the dense brambly forest at almost a slow jog, his .380 automatic in his left hand. He covered the first half-mile quickly. He then slowed to a very methodical walking pace always on the lookout for guards or perimeter defenses.
Suddenly Walker froze. He spotted just a glimpse of movement on the ridge below. There was a heavily clothed man walking toward a thick clump of trees. As he approached, Walker glimpsed another man exiting the clump of trees. Must be the change of the guards, he thought. It was time for the day shift to take over. “Perfect,” he whispered to himself, “I’ll use the retreating guards’ movement and noise to cover my movement.”
Walker heard a noise to his left and he quickly spun. Just as he did, a shadow crossed his face and the lights went out.
Walker awoke to the chatter of the familiar sound of an AK47. He then heard the short bursts of what sounded like a number of M-16s. Just then a grenade exploded in the room just above him. The floor caved in on him and this and the pain, the noise and pressure again caused Walker to retreat into unconsciousness.
He regained consciousness just as a camouflaged clad soldier was making his way down the basement stairs. Walker managed to move his lips and utter, “I’m Commander Walker.” The soldier immediately leveled his gun at Walker. Approaching cautiously he stuck the M-16 in Walker’s bloody chest. He stooped over and carefully searched him for identification. His large over-excited eyes never left Walker’s not even for an instant. Finding Walker’s black leather wallet he carefully removed the pictured Connecticut driver identification card. Satisfied it was Walker, he shouted to the men above for a medic.
