LaShannon Jeanette Akins is from Louisville, Kentucky. She is the twelfth child out of thirteen and the first to go to college. LaShannon graduated from Kentucky State University with a Bachelor in Marketing and received a Masters degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She currently lives in North Wales, Pennsylvania with her husband. LaShannon is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorpated.
