The date is December 31st. Tate, a newspaper reporter, has traveled to New York to interview Jacob Balzer. Jacob will turn 100 at midnight on December 31st, 1999. The country is thriving and almost everyone invests. An ominous cloud hangs over this banking world. This year, the first of the baby boomers turns 65. Many plan to remove their funds from the stock market. In fact, many will make this move right after January 1st. Within days, the worldwide economy collapses. In a world where gold, salt, bicycles, and crystal radios are of the greatest value, Tate must fight his way back to Denver and to his love, Annie.
About the Author
John Tate Libby currently resides in Colorado with his wife, Anna and dog, Calvin. He continues to work for a local newspaper, and he is also on the board of Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO. He enjoys running in the hills around his home and driving his Saab convertible with the top down, even in winter.
