About the Author

Katharine Ann Birge grew up in Istanbul, Turkey; the daughter of Christian missionaries. She is a graduate of Antioch College and Hartford Theological Seminary. She worked as a nursery school teacher in Hartford, Connecticut and for two years as religion editor of the Hartford Courant. She worked for many years as second grade teacher in the Istanbul Community School. She lives in North Manchester, Indiana.
