About the Author
As the oldest granddaughter of Mamie Creekmore, I am very familiar with many of the memories included in this book of memoirs from my grandmother. I was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee in 1960 and attended a total of eight schools before graduating high school in Andrews, Texas. I managed to gain a great deal of cultural diversity during my childhood, but only recently have I come to appreciate my own Appalachian heritage. Some stories included here were known to me and some were new but all were interesting, as I hope they will be to anyone who happens to pick up this book and begin the journey through the life of Mamie Adeline Gray Creekmore.
