About the Author
The wish to take a break once in a while from the demands of his profession as a spiritual guide, and increase his overall satisfaction with life, inspired him to become a massage therapist at the age of 51. The desire to learn further the art of massage therapy led him to take certain course at an accredited massage school. Soon he enrolled in the 521 hour course of study at the Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy in Swedish Massage, where he attended evening classes and took practical and written exams in the theory and practice of massage therapy, anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Upon graduation and the passing of a written test given by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, he was officially certified as a professional massage therapist and joined the American Massage Therapy Association. Until this day, he maintains his professional standing with both organizations by taking additional courses in the field of massage work from one year to the next. Those courses include neuromuscular therapy, cranial sacral therapy, reiki, therapeutic touch, and studies in resolving pain, managing low back pain, neck and shoulder pain, soft tissue therapy, and ethics and law. Since his certification as a massage therapist, he has worked at salons, a gym, health centers, and chiropractic offices in addition to his own private practice at The Hill School in the athletic trainer’s center, where he teaches self-massage classes.
