About the Book

A Praying Grandmother is a contemporary African-American story of little girl, Cassandra Austin, and her profoundly spiritual grandmother. Cassandra or "Sandy" for short, is torn between two powerful influences. The first being her alcoholic, depressed and broken mother, who needs her but is unable to love her, and consequently pulls her down, and the second, being her deeply religious, loving and encouraging grandmother who builds her up. The devastating hurts and disappointments that Sandy faces, and even the deaths that come, transform her from a fearful, desperate little girl, into determined and dynamic young woman.

About the Author

Keron Lewis resides in Northern California with her husband and two children. She has been secretly writing for some thirty plus years, everything from novels to poems to lyrics to greeting cards to short stories and more. With the completion of, A Praying Grandmother, which is her premier novel, she could not wait to start her second book, entitled, The Other Side of the Fence, due for completion December 2007. Keron is an Author, Poet, lyricist and Artist with an unquenchable need to write. Her greatest desire is to turn her poems into dances, her lyrics into songs and her books into full length feature films. Note from Author I have been writing so far back that I can hardly remember. I love writing and I feel most at home with my own creative thoughts. About five years ago I found an old report card in which my teacher said I was an exceptional writer. I thought that was amazing, that even way back at nine years old, I enjoyed writing. Now, when I look back I understand how much our history is tied to our destiny. Always, Keron
