About the Book
Bader In Africa One is in a series of volumes of ancient African tales and fables. The short stories in each volume tell about fictional and real lifestyles, beliefs, traditions, cultural practices, and perspectives that exist in many African settlements, past and present. This trilogy of stories is an infusion of realism, superstition, and myth. For many centuries, they have been central themes in the traditions and cultures of the Zinans. Zina is a simple and a very small African society, where subsistence life and centuries-long customs still dominate in most of its rural communities. Kema, Kung, and Kaci, are few of the most famous settlements in Zina, where one can experience the authenticity and originality of generations of invaluable traditions, responsible for the uniqueness of Zina’s people. The first story, Book One, speaks of the realism of daily living in a semi-urbanize Zina community. It is an articulated snippet of a typical family structure, lifestyle, work habits, and challenges. It also tells in part the story of the founding of Zina. The second story, Book Two, is rooted in the notion of supernaturalism and divinity of human biengs that have always been with the Zinans, regardless of where on the land of Zina one lives. It reveals the importance, powers, and the indispensability of the village herbalists in Kung. Perhaps one of the most revered careers in Kung, the village herbalists are a unique community in Kung. The third and final story in this volume, Book Three, tells of the mythical customs and beliefs of the Kaci people. The Kaci people attributed all their powers, natural blessings, and success to the rare and sacred white alligator. The white alligator is everything that the Kacians have.
